    Cook County Leak Repair is no longer accepting enrollments. Over the last 1.5 years, the program completed plumbing repairs for over 1,000 households.

    If you need assistance with your water bill, we encourage you to reach out to your water utility directly to ask if they have any payment plans or assistance programs available.

    How It Works

  • Am I Eligible?

    Cook County Leak Repair was available to income-eligible suburban Cook County residents (excluding Chicago) who own or rent their homes.

    While the program is no longer accepting enrollments, you can use our simple lookup tool to see if you are eligible if enrollments reopen in the future.

  • No Hidden or Unexpected Fees

    Participation and repairs are free. We identify the cause of your high water usage and provide plumbing repairs and fixture upgrades to stop the leaks—at no cost to you.

  • Plumbing Upgrades

    The program replaces faucets, toilets, and showerheads, and can repair other leaks from the pipes that bring water into your home. It does not fix leaks resulting from weather, structural damage, appliances, or address drain and sewer leaks or blockages.

  • Licensed Plumbers

    Licensed plumbers will repair leaks, replace your outdated fixtures, and ensure you aren’t wasting water or money.

  • Experienced, Friendly Team

    The Cook County Leak Repair team is dedicated to helping you make your home more water-efficient.
